Joy and Pain
Health and Sickness
Laughter and Tears
We all have been there and gone through the ups and downs. The hills and valleys of life. The other day I heard a song that really spoke to me and my life. It talks about the ups and downs and what we can learn from them. We are all on this roller-coaster ride. I know that I am for sure.
I invite you to take a minute and listen to the song: Hills and Valleys by Tauren Wells
Here are the lyrics to the chorus:
On the mountains I will bow my life to the One who set me there
In the valley I will lift my eyes to the One who sees me there
When I’m standing on the mountain I didn’t get there on my own
When I’m walking through the valley I know I am not alone
You’re God of the hills and valleys, hills and valleys
God of the hills and valleys
And I am not alone
Life seems to always take me on a crazy ride. Sometimes the ride changes in an hour. Up, down, up, down. When I’m on the mountain top, I can’t help but feel the rush. I feel the sun and breeze on my face. I feel the high of being on top of the world. Nothing is as wonderful. Then before you can blink, you notice that you are surrounded by the mountains. You are miles from the top. The valley is cool and dark. Hope feels so far away.
This song reminds me that God is with me through it all. This is a message I need to hear again and again. I am not alone! We need to remember to praise Him in the joy and pain. We have no idea what He has planned for us. I can’t even begin to tell you about all the wonderful mountain tops I have had in my life. I am blessed on a daily basis. Yes, tears may fall and dreams may get broken, but He is still my God. In Him I will hope (Jer 29:11). He has a plan for my life. I am who I am today because of the hills and valleys. When I look at the valleys and hills on their own, my story isn’t complete. Both make me who I am.
No matter where you are on your journey, know that you are loved and safe in God’s hands. He will never leave you. He is in the hills and the valleys. I challenge you to stop what you are doing right now and thank God for where you are. On the mountains I will bow my life to the One who set me there. In the valley I will lift my eyes to the One who sees me there. God hears you. He knows your story and knows what you need. You are not alone!
